落ちていた角材を拾って眺めていたら、木目が海に見えたことをきっかけに制作。

2018 年より海の写真を集めるプロジェクトを始めました。活動記録としては、2018 年10 月に群馬県みなかみ町湯宿温泉の各所に作品を置かせていただけることになり、地元の人や温泉に入りに来た観光客の方々に声をかけて作品の説明をし、海の写真を集めました。このプロジェクトを通して、海が好きで海が写っている広告まで手元に置いているという方に出会えました。このプロジェクトの目的は、その人の記憶から海を探すこと、そしてたとえ海から離れた場所にいても、私たちの近くに存在することに気付くことです。海の記憶を探すという行為を促すことを日本国外で行なっていきます。

 

The inspiration for this following work came from the illusion that the wood grain of a piece of wood looked like waves in the ocean to me.

In October 2018, I started a project for which I am collecting pictures of the sea. As activity record, I put my work (stratum) in various places in Minakami-machi Yujuku-onsen, a village in Gunma prefecture, and explained my work to local people and tourists who came to the hot springs to try to collect pictures of the sea. Gunma Prefecture is an area in Japan that is not adjacent to the sea. Through this project, I was able to meet a lady who is collecting pictures and advertising flyers showing the sea. The purpose of this project is to bring back people’s memories of the sea, and to realize that the sea is existing within us even if it is far away. I will work outside Japan to encourage people to bring forth anew long lost memories of the sea.
